97 GSI not running right

My 97 GSI isn’t running as well as it should. When I get on full throttle it goes up to around 4000 rpms and then after a little bit it’ll kick in and take off going faster. Is that going to be the high speed or low speed adjustment?
 
Is this like you are revving up but the ski isn't moving with the revs? Or it has a delay in the revs? Make sure you bring your carbs to stock speed screw adjustments as your seadoo will always run normal on stock adjustments unless there is a problem somewhere else in the ski. Check the repair manual for stock speed screw adjustments.
 
No the ski moves there’s just seems to be like a delay. I’ll hit the gas and it’ll start crusing around 4000 rpms and then a few seconds later it’ll finally start speeding up.
 
Ok so that takes the propulsion issue out of the picture. This could possibly be a carb issue or a fuel delivery issue. Do you have tempo gray fuel lines? When is the last time you rebuilt your carburetor? You need to replace your fuel lines immediately if you have gray fuel lines as they will starve your engine from fuel and then kill it. Also always make sure you have rebuilt your carburetor(s) as this can also cause an issue
 
What caused you to rebuild the carbs in the first place? Was it running properly before? Have you ridden it since you rebuilt the carbs and serviced the fuel system? Reason i ask is to know whether this is symptomatic of the work you did or it's been a persistent issue.

When you replaced all the lines and petcock did you pressure test the fuel system?
Did you use new base gaskets at the carbs?
What do the plugs look like?

If the motor isn't bogging/sputtering while it holds at 4k you may be looking at a lean hesitation.
 
I rebuilt the carbs because it still had the grey fuel lines when I bought it back in February. I don’t know how it ran before because I never had a chance to take it out. I had just read about how bad those grey lines are and I took care of it. I have not pressure tested the fuel system. I’ll take a look at the spark plugs today and let you know. It doesn’t big or anything. I’ll hit the gas and it’ll climb to 4K and hold there for a bit before it finally takes off over 4K.
 
Man.. I wish I had your fuel problems instead of my electrical problems... Least you have a running ski
 
Sad thing is my 97 GSI is immaculate inside and out.. other than a slightly faded storage cover and handle bar pad, she looks brand new. I think thats what is keeping me going with this..I cant let a beauty like this die.. Im going thru the dreaded blown 5a MPEM fuse issue... Worst part is, all my elecrtrical in new as well...

Well I had something similar but mine was around 5k. If you're confident your carbs are clear , check/clean the raves and test for air leaks in both the fuel system and engine.
 
Two things.
1 at 4000rpm is exactly where you switch from low speed circuit to main jet.
So if you replace the little plastic peice on the moon shape peice it maybe too tight. As in the one in the kit was too still. ( I often bend them out slightly to make them less stiff)

2 if the woodruff key on the crank stripped slightly that would also do exactly this as well. But the top end wouldn't be there at all. As in it would go to 5500 and stagnate there unless it cavitated.
