was given boat in unrunning condition. found front cyl gasket on port side broken. removed eng, repl gasket and all o-rings . tested in driveway on hoses and ran fine. put boat in water and both engines ran to 6500 rpm for 1 min then port eng stalled. started right back up ran about 30 sec. this repeated over and over. starboard eng at first wouldnt rev past 4500 but then after a min went to full throttle. drove boat back to dock on stbd eng .when back at dock , port eng wouldnt crank fast enough to start (water in exhaust?) pulled boat out of water and port eng started right up.dont know why port engine wont stay running.anyone got an idea?

compression is ok

did compression test. 120 in both cyl. found rave valve bellows not attached to rave valve, so connected them.ran fine in driveway, putting it in water today. also had problem with stbd side eng propulsion after sucking in a nylon rope,it stalled eng. we pulled out rope and it seemed as the eng would rev fine but not much propulsion compared to other eng.we could only get up to 40.when i pulled it out of water to analyze problems i found more rope in nozzle of pump.do you think this will cure problem ?

same thing

put it in water. wouldnt go over 4000 rpm. eng kept stalling. put new sparkers in, it ran better at first but then kept cutting out.i'm gonna change inline fuel filters and try again.is there filters in carbs? 787 eng

yeah, take a day, pull the carbs, go thru them, and also, pull the fuel saelectors out and clean them/bypass them. Then try again...

i took all 4 carbs out ,disassembled and cleaned( found alot of crap; rust crystalized junk), removed main and pilot jets(found 1 main jet plugged)checked diaphrams (ok), cleaned all metal with carb cleaner and compressed air, reassembled and reinstalled.also replaced both inline fuel filters.put boat in water and no more stalling, but still cant get over 4000 rpms.although fuel had stabilizer in it it is 2 year old fuel.i put octane booster in and isopropyl in . no difference. my next step is topump out old gas and put in fresh hi test. any other ideas? my wife calls the boat THE TUG!

im no expert but maybe it could be a rave valve issue since they open around 4000rpm maybe yours are not moving for some reason.

I had a problem with my bellows a couple years ago and kept burning up the caps because I didnt realize the bottom was supposed to be sealed. I would pull them out and clean them if you havent done it yet. If they have a lot of build up it will cause them to stick. Just make sure you get the top and bottom of the bellows sealed up when you reassemble. I think you need to seal the bottom part, then screw the cap on and then get the top part sealed. Sorry kinda hard to remember. They should move freely up and down by hand.

WELL HERE GOES!! i pumped out all old fuel and put in 12 gal 93 octane. before i drained tank , both engs ran ( poorly but ran). now only stbd eng will start. port eng fouled plugs. i've rebuilt carbs, done comp check (125 both cyls), repl filters, cleaned raves, new plugs. dess wont give me 2 beeps anymore. i'm new to this forum but not new to mechanics. how do you become a premium member . i need to access some major seadoo brains! hooker...ifits one engine, or even both in that matter, take back to water, and when they run, but not pass 4k, pull the choke, see if it kicks in. If so, then your fuel to carbs, aint enuf/tear carbs and selector out. While you do that, replace the pilot jets with 67.5 sizes...

1 eng not revving fully

i put in fresh sparkers, removed and check raves (OK). port eng will run consistently at 5k and occasionally surge to 6k. stbd eng wont go past 3500 and bogs when given full throttle. carb adjustment?
