what kind of lubrication do i use in the cavity of the balance shaft?

This is part of the OEM oiling system, it drains back to the case which goes to the tank and comes back again thru the pump - the folks who remove the OEM pumping kill the motor this way.

You're thinking about the RV shaft, not the balance shaft.

Use regular 2-stroke oil, follow the shop manual for the amount.

Sorry about that, thanx for pointing this out Chester, this is the place you do not want to overfill or it just waste energy swishing the oil around, just enough to have the gears dipped.
