Ok, I posted earlier about my 96 XP not starting. I just installed a new charged battery, cleaned all the electrical connections, put dielectric grease on everything, and still I get the first 2 beeps, then 4 long beeps and the temp guage light flashes with the beeps. I have been told that the mpem is bad by a couple of people on here but I just don't understand how it can go bad over the winter on it's own. Are they known to just quit working for no apparent reason? HELP!!!!!!!!

Try this

Put the ski in self advanced diagnosis but removing the lanyard and hitting the start bottom 5 times and listen for beeps. let us know what the beeps are.

clean the landyard and post with an eraser. Sounds like your not getting a good "reading"

I cleaned the heck out of both the post and lanyard just now, tried it again, got the same results. After I put the key on and it does the 2 beeps and then the 4 beeps, It beeps once when I push the start button(I don't know if that makes a difference)

if you got a nother ski, steal the post, as for the landyard, you'll have to switch mpems, use theother key, then try.

OK, but is there any other ways to test them? My other doo is a HX that doesn't have the stupid dess system, it just has a kill switch lanyard. Is there any way of switching my XP to the same kind of kill switch? (push buttom kill switch)

In the manual, it'll say what wires do what and whats exceptable, along with the post
