Ok, techs,or wannabee's,trying to pinpoint this fuel consumption on the 800,holy crap its Hard"" 1 hour on river at Mid Throttle=28 litres/6.17 Imp Gal,Fuel light on for 5 mins, thats 26 miles round trip(4.21 mpg)
Brother inlaw on the Waverunner beside me at full throttle 32.5mph takes 14 litres/3.08 Imp Gal(8.44 mpg)or 1/3 Tank.
Is this critter really that hard? or is there something wrong in the carbs,no gas smell, starts A-1,checked choke is full Open when off,no smoke whatsoever.Anyone ever check or got a comparison for me besides a 50hp Yammi?(My Buds Kenworth gets better fuel mileage.)
Plugs on XP after Run 1 hour.Plugs on waverunner 1 hour
any advice will be considered, but dang that XP is a Blast,YeeHaa.:hurray:

Fuel Mileage

Wow, just found this in a thread below, it sounds to be bang on with what i'm getting for mileage, i think what hurts the XP is the Tiny 9 gal tank = approx 52 Mins runtime, Don,t go far from home i guess,lol...

(Quote)The 1997 GSX, 787cc, 2 stroke has a capacity of 15 gallons including reserve. At WOT cruising, it will burn about 11.7 GPH. Your total run time, counting reserve is about 1 hour 16 minutes.

Thanks for input Tboy, thats first on my list for morning.I'll snap some pics of those dirty buggers.Other then that, think i'll try doin a swap on all the Grey fuel lines and my fuel selector is seized with salt corrosion, tisk, tisk, this is my first Salt water ski,i'm too far inland for this crap,lol..

feel free to post me a list of things to do karl, lol.only had it in the water 4 times since purchase a month ago, temps here already down to Frost at nite, like to have bugs worked out of it before fogging it for winter.
I asked the Marine Mech i baught it from if he had done anything to it, he said nope, traded in with Stator gone, sat under shrinkwrap till 2 months ago when he fixed fire and posted for sale.Anything these XP's are prone for trouble feel free to let me know and i'll fix it all now to save me some headache hopefully..Thanks, Brian...

Replace the gray fuel lines, clean your carbs, and clean your Rave valves. That should keep you busy for a short time. The mpg's might get better. I know the performance will.

Karl

evening Karl, gonna do that fuel line replacement ASAP, wonderin if this stuff on ebay is crap" or what your suggesting,my Stealer wants $4/ft for his stuff, and he said yeah it looks identical to the cheap stuff but it isn,t, hmm, thats $80 for 20' or $20 for 20' of this stuff, and any special hose clamps? or just small stainless pipe clamps from plumbing store, thanks
