ok so this is a long story
2 weeks ago the ski was running great until the a strap came off and became lodged in the PTO flywheel. freak accident right??? so this cause the ski when running at full throttle to only go about 5-10 mph. the engine sounded great it just didnt run at top speed.

theres more about this here http://seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=19256

so a couple of days after that we took the ski back to the lake to test it and it seemed to have ran great, but we only ran it for about 15 minutes. so today we take it out and it ran like a dog, but i found that it had a air leak in the fuel filter, i delt with that and took it back out, it seemed to have ran like a top, although slow out of the whole until we stood it straight up and it fliped over instead of rolled over, almost like a backflip that didnt finish itself. when we got it right side up again it wouldnt crank or anything, we towed it back to the dock and after 30 minutes of sitting it cranked but you had to hold the throttle all the way to get it just a little faster idle but it smoked a little more than it normally somtimes does and when you let off the throttle it would idle, but the idle sounded a little rough, it made a knocking noise like someone was knocking there knuckles on a refrigerator. we took a look at it when we got it to the house, and one of the rave valves would smoke when you cranked it and you could see the soot around it from where it had been smoking for quite a while.

any ideas of what the problem could be other that the RAVE valves need new gaskets and too be cleaned up a little?

oh and by the way the RAVE valves having had any attention in years. (maybe more the 200 hours)

Something Else To Add

By the way when we flipped the ski over, it flipped on top of me and the engine ran upside down for 2-3 seconds before i got out from under it and yanked the key. The key WAS attached to my life vest, i just didnt get far enough away for it to pull out the key.
