96 XP Only runs good intermitently

I have a 96 XP that has never given me any troubles until now. It will run fine for a few minutes and then run as if it is at half throttle. I can turn it off and re start it and it will run great for about 5 seconds and then go back to runinig like it is at half throttle. I just changed the spark plugs and have always run the recomended oil. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Do you still have grey fuel lines? If so, change them. They tend to break down into green goo from the inside, clogging filters which makes it run lean which blows your motor. Also clean your carb and selector valve and all filters

Both of my XP's still have the grey fuel lines. I will change them out. The problem is acting electonic becasue of how it runs great when restarted and then goes back into some kind of limp mode. No overheat lights are on either.

It's not going into limp mode...it sounds like dirty carbs and bad fuel lines. Replace the lines and clean the carbs and go from there.
