engine would not crank and the machine has not been used for 1 year. removed spark plugs and still would not crank. kept trying starter and tons of oil came out of the cylinders what would cause this. any help would be great i would understand if it were hydrolocked but not locked up from oil. what caused it and how can it be repaired. thanks for any help

Have the same problem with my 95 XP. Most likely the seals on either side of your rotary drive gear on the crankshaft. Oil gradually leaks past the seal, into the case, and gets drawn into the cylinder, hydrolocking it. A slow leak might take all winter to fill up the case, while a bad leak, like mine, fills up overnight. Permanent solution is to replace the crank. Might as well rebuild the top end while you're at it.

:agree:

A slow leak isn't a big deal. Get the oil cleared, start the engine, and go ride.

It will smoke for a while, but it will clear up after a minute or two.
