Ok me and my buddy like to lean back and make the jet ski stand straight up in the water. But last time we did it, the jet ski flipped back on us and kept running because i wasnt far enough away from it. It only ran upside down for 5-6 seconds until i got the key unplugged.
When we got it righted it wouldnt crank. After 30 minutes, it cranked but would knock real bad in idle, and even when you gave it full throttle it didnt do much more than idle. What happened????

It sounds like you got the engine flooded with water. That's why if you read the warnings it say to roll it in one direction, so the water won't flood the engine. There not made to run upside down. If that happens again get it running as quickly as possible so it won't cause corrosion damage internally. Never just store it away either as it will corrode it up pretty good and maybe seize the engine if you let go.

ok i did roll it over the right way and tilted it the right way before i restarted it. then it wouldnt crank for at least 30 minutes and when it did it knocked bad during idle and full throttle would make the ski go a little faster than idle. what do i need to start taking apart before it corrodes

From the 1997 Shop manual on a flooded engine:
1. Make sure no water in gas & oil resevoirs. If there is, drain them
2. Turn fuel valve off and drain fuel filter bowl
3. Remove plugs & wire and ground wires on grounding device
4.With plugs removed, crank engine to remove water from crankcase
5. Spray BOMBARDIER LUBE lubricant (P/N 293
600 016) into spark plug holes.
6.Crank engine again.
7.Reinstall spark plugs and spark plug cables
8.On the 787 engine, remove the drain plug of the
counterbalance shaft located on the PTO side of
the lower crankcase. Drain completely the crankcase oil of the counterbalance shaft. Reinstall drain plug. Remove the filling plug located on the upper crankcase. Add 30 mL (1 oz) of SAE 30 motor oil. Reinstall filling plug.
9.Turn fuel valve to ON position & Start engine.
10.After engine has started, spray BOMBARDIER LUBE lubricant through air intake silencer while engine is running

Hope this helps.

Good quote KSUBrian. If you have trouble getting it fired up use the same oil you run on and fuel and make a premix. Add about 3 oz. per cylinder, reinstall the spark plugs and get it running as quickly as possible. The longer it sets the more chance of corrosion and damage inside your engine.
