I'm probably doing something wrong, but I tried pouring antifreeze into the hose coupler where I normally connect the garden hose and it wouldn't go into the engine. Engine is not running. I basically only filled up the hose and that's it. Some overflowed. I believe the hose flushing connection is actually the return line. Nothing seems to be wrong with the cooling system or when I flush the sytem with fresh water.

I might have to take a picture so you can see what I may be doing wrong.

Thanks

You would need to remove both hoses on the cylinder head to pour anti-freeze into it. Other wise the is no way for the air to escape while poring into just one connected hose.

yes the easiest way is to pull lines to head to get coolant in.
since skis have no water pump, they need pressure to get water/antifreeze into the system. garden hose when flushing or pump pressure when running.
as one member stated he used a six foot step ladder to get gravity to help with this process. seadoosnipe said he saw someone use a bilge pump and a kiddie pool to pump the antifreeze in. i used a fluid pump and one of those winterize kits for big boats.
but i had a idea, get a 5 gallon paint bucket, submersible bilge pump and a old chunk of garden hose.
connect hose to bilge pump, attach lenght of wire with alligator clips to ends
and then stick pump into bucket, fill with anti freeze, hopefully the pink stuff
attach hose to normal flush port, place bucket at rear of ski to catch excess
start ski and attach clips to skis battery. flush and fog motor as normal for winterize and woo laaa, all water is displaced in engine!!!
put a lid on bucket and save for next year!!
dont forget to stop coolant flow right after engine is shut down.
doulbe check the engine drain lines from motor/exhaust to make sure they are clear, they can become glogged and this will not let the engine drain down proper.

I guess I don't understand where the air is being trapped? Isn't the other end of the hose just open and connected to the pump outside the hull?

I bought a hand held pump to help syphon gas and other liquids, but it broke on the 2nd usage! I may buy another one. I will disconnect the supply hose and try again. I assume I leave the hose that goes to the exhaust tuned pipe so antifreeze flows through that. Will the antifreeze go through that with no problems? If not, how do I get antifreeze into the tuned pipe?

Thanks

Here is some basic information straight from the seadoo manual.
This information is for the 2 stroke 1996-1997 engine Pwc or Jet boat.

You need to add about 1 qt.of anti freeze mixed 50 /50 to the cooling line going into the head from the rear of the seadoo. There should be an arrow on the head pointing the direction of water flow, on some models. It is the one closest to the exhaust. The other hose is the return or exit hose. Remove that one too...it is on carb side. Both of these hoses are on the rear of the engine. If your engine has a clear engine drain line you need to pinch that one off so the anti-freeze just doesn't run out. It is usually clear and under the exhaust manifold. That is the one to pinch if it has this line. Attach a hose and use a funnel to add the anti freeze to the hose nipple closest to the exhaust at the rear. Re attach the 2 hoses. On the front head cooling line is the hose going to the exhaust. Add about 3 oz. of anti-freeze to the exhaust line also. Re attach the hoses and remove the pincher from the engine drain line under the exhaust manifold if yours has it. Spray your engine and components with wd-40 and silicone spray...store the battery in a warm dry place and your done.

Those were the best instructions I have seen so far, which confused me since I didn't see those instructions in my manual. So I think I just figured out why. It seemed my manual doesn't have that information! Most of that information about disconnecting a hose is listed under the "HX Model Only" sections. I have a XP and usually ignore those sections. I think this was just a mistake in the manual and never even bothered to read it!

It all makes sense now. Thanks

Just replying back to my own message.

I figured out that my problem was, I simply did not have a hose connected high enough. My hose I was pouring antifreeze into did not even go above the top of the exhaust pipe. After attatching a funnel and a short hose, I noticed the fluid would only go down if I lifted it up about a foot.

Anyways, everything seems to be good now. Going to take it out of the garage and leave it outside now so i can get my car in for the winter. :(

if you go to seadoo web site you can dl the user manual for free. As far as the shop manual you can buy it at dealer = expensive or get off e bay for cheap thats what i did then printed all off at college heheh. I do think however if youra premium member here they have access to lots of manuals all included for cost of member ship im sure there are other perks too.

good luck
