OK, I will try to be as brief as possible
Hoses and compression are good
When I first got the xp (last year) it would start great in or out of the water but had zero get up and go. Puttering around at 5-10 mph was about it's happy spot. When throttle was hit pttthptthtpppp
Rebuilt carbs
Tested in water without the aftermarket flame arrester installed (came with this and some other nice upgrades, grate, steering hull fins). Started up ok - ran wicked.
However with the arrestor on I can't get it to start in the water and if started out of the water I need to keep throttle on or it dies.
I've a feeling the springs I used on the carb rebuilt were a bad choice. I can locate only one of the pre-rebuild springs. How can I measure this puppy? When I push the spring down on a scale I get in the neighborhood of about 130 gr nearing 50% compression. Sounds like alot to me. FWIW it did not have the std 1.5 valves. Can't remember if it had 2.0s or larger (yes I replaced them as well)
So anybody know how to measure one of these springs?
Other thoughts?
Thanks
Mark
