i hope someone can point me in the right direction with this issue. i just bought the ski and the first time i rode it i discoverd that the battery was not charging, but it ran great until the battery light came on. i traced the problem down to ba a bad voltage regulator/ rectifier. now the battery charges around 13.5 volts. i went to go test drive it and when i lowerd the shorestation i discoverd that someone had stolen the drainplug...... it had gotten alot of water in the engine. i got all the water out and got it running again but now it has a new issue. at wide open throttle it surges. i even tried reinstalling the old rectifier incase i had gotten a defective one, no change. could the water have caused this? any help is greatly appreciated..... im stuck!

Rev Limit

is the ski accually hitting full speed? becuase mine does the same thing the rev limit kicks in and it kick the motor down so you don't overspeed. I would consider it normal unless your not accually hitting full speed.

no, its far from top speed, my 650 will keep up with it. it only goes about 30mph. i can get it to climb if u slowly give it gas but i still never get top speed.

replace the grey fuel lines, go through carbs, re-check volts at battery, clean the RAVES...

what is the problem with the grey fuel lines? it's just weird that it ran perfect one week then it all of a sudden suges only at full throttle.... looks like the lines and the carbs are next, i already cleaned the rave valves...

same problem w/ my 97 XP & GTI

Hey all, I hope somebody can help me cause I'm at my wits end. I have a 97 XP (787) & 97 GTI (717).
My XP started doing this last year but it would only do it after an hour of riding. Then it would start to surge at WOT and would never reach top speed. After cooling down for 20-30 minutes, it would ride normally again for about 30-45 mins then repeat the same symptoms.
My GTI had a seized fuel selector valve and was replaced a year ago.
Charging voltage is good, compression is good, and everything electrical seems to check out. I have ohmed out the coil and other ignition compoments and all are within spec of the manual.
This year my GTI has started to do the same thing. Both had grey fuel hoses and I have replaced the hoses and replaced both fuel filters. I haven't had it on the water after replacing the mentioned hoses and filters. I also haven't cleaned the RAVE's but I will do that next.

Thx in advance.

no raves on the GTI, but are, on the xp.

Need to pull the carbs, and clean/replace the internal filter, inside each carb.
