96 SPI Carb rebuild problems

Im rebuilding the carb on my 96 SPI. No real issues until I try to put the little rubber grommets, with the little plastic check valves, into the Fuel Pump housing. I have tried lubricating with oil, soap, soapy water and I can not push them in.

Any tips or ideas how to get this little buggers in?

Also, any ideas were I can purchase new grommets and valves? So far, they only come in a rebuild kit...It is getting expensi
 
Direction....

If your not trying to put them in upside down, then it shouldn't be that hard. Once you get them in place and put a little pressure on them, use a small needle or something with a point, to manipulate the inner ring lip from side to side until you see it beginning to pop through.
Be careful not to poke a hole in them........
