I have a 1996 twin engine speedster,I am having a problem with the engines boging down, runs a little ruffer than normal at idle and if i drop the hammer both engines will rev up to 6800 rpm for a sec then drop down to 4k, if i pull the port engine bask to slow the starboard will rev up to full throttle, acts like a fuel problem, also when this problem started the starboard tach got stuck at 1k rpm. After i plane out with 2 engines if i pull the port engine back the starboard will stop bogging and run wide open. Could this be the rectifier? and how can i test the rectifier, I read another post of a guy that had the same problem and changed the battery and that fixed his problem. Any ideas would be great, Thanks

To test the rectifier, put a meter on the battery. You should be seeing a little over 12v with the engine off. Start the engine, and bring it up to 5k RPM's. You should now see 13.5 to 14.5V. If it's higher or lower... replace the rectifier. (you have one on each engine)

If that checks out... I'd say you have a pugged up fuel system. I would check the filter, and the fuel select valves... and clean the internal carb filters.

rectifier shouldnt be issue as it primary purpose is to convert ac voltage to dc voltage to charge battery

Yes, but... On a SeaDoo, a bad rectifier is known to cause ignition problems. In this case, I don't know if that's the problem or not, but if the owner has a reason to think there is a problem with it... Then I just give them the info they ask for.

It's a quick/easy test, and if it checks, we will go from there.

Thanks dr. honda i'll check it out. Also my beeper stoped working around the same time that the engine problem started, the tack failed, and the beeper stoped working. I'm thinking they are all related, that's why i'm thinking elect problem but it acts like fuel. Thanks guys, i'll let you know what i come up with.
