Hello,
Newbie SeaDoo-er here. Bought my fist pwc last summer - 96 SeaDoo XP 800. Ran great last summer - the two times I got on it. Long story...
Anyway - had it winterized, took it out about a month ago - started right up no problem (had battery on battery tender, ski stored in garage)...but after about 20 mins riding, it just died. Tried to restart for a couple minutes, would get nothing - no click, nothing...then it would start right up. Go for about another 10-15 minutes - whether at full throttle or not - would die. Kept happening and the interval between the time I'd get it restarted and the time it would die kept getting shorter.
Take it to shop in town - they have it for a month - call me and tell me the wire harness is bad - and since SeaDoo doesn't make them for this model - they can't fix it.
But, two weeks ago they called me to get authorization to put a new battery ($70) in it stating that my battery wasn't holding a charge and they couldn't start the ski...I was at work, busy as hell- so OK, gave approval.
Get the call today that there are shorted wires and my harness is fried...wrong gage wires were used for battery...blah, blah, blah..oh! and the Total charge for - $65! Ummm, the battery cost $70 (that they had to put in because it wasnt hlldng a charge or some crap) and diagnostics costs $65 - so why they only charging me for diags?
Sound fishy to anyone? Any ideas on where I can get a harness if that is in fact the problem? At a reasonable price?
Didn't mean to rant...but that's what I do...sometimes.
Any tips would be great! Love the XP! Want to salvage the deal I got in it as best I can (paid $700 for running 96 XP in great shape with trailer).
