Hello everyone, im very new to all of this so dont go to hard on me. I just bought a 96 seadoo gtx which is the ski i wanted for about 3 months now. i took it to the bay last week and i sucked up a bunch of seadweed which pretty much ended my day of riding.. after pulling the seadweed from the grate i tryed driving it again and once the ski would hit 5000rpm it would die down. this kept happening so i brought it back to the ramp and went home. i flushed it all out and even removed the grating and cleaned out by the shaft as well.

well yesterday i took it out to the water again and everything seemed ok at first, then when i tryed to ride it again i got the exact same problem. the ski runs perfectly fine idleing and driving slow. but when i go to give it power it goes to 5000rpm holds for about 5 seconds and just bogs down. sometimes it will even just rev out and not move at all.

a guy i know keeps telling me its seaweed stuck in there so the jet is going dry, but i think it could be a carb problem, or not getting enough gas or something.. also the previous owner did some mod to it where the oil lines are not connected to the oil tank and you have to fill it by hand. (will provide pictures)..

i know this may be long and boring but i appreciate all the help i can get. thanks!!

Wear Ring

I'm not sure what you are talking about "fill by hand", does that mean you are using premix?

It sounds to me like you need a new wear ring. To check the wear ring, remove the steering nozzle. Check the wear ring for missing pieces, check the clearance between the impeller and wear ring, should be no more than .040". While your there check the impeller for dents and dings.

im not sure what it was running at but hearing it sounded like it was idling just fine

to explain it just confuses me even more but ill explain my best to try to make it possible to understand lol. im not premixing but im also not putting the oil in the oil tank either..

there are both oil lines running to the back of the motor (cant see where they go) that come out to the front of the motor that i can see. they run into each other with a "t" connector, then there is a long line that is connected to a breather. the guy i bought it from said if i kept oil in there i would be fine. so to me it looks like he cut the line that comes straight from the oil tank.

here are some pics from my phone..

Im assumng the line that usually is connected to the oil tank is acting as a resivour. He also told me that when that is connected it floods oil into the cylinders and the ski dosent start? the more i try to explain the more confused i get

Oil Lines

I ain't got a clue whats going on there. The only advise I could offer it to get a service manual and put everything back the way it was.

Maybe someone else has an idea.
