OK,
So to start his off I just picked up the 96 challenger 787... I was told it was parked two years ago because it didn't get up onto plane easy enough and they got a new boat...(thinking it was impeller/wear ring related I picked it (VERY CHEAP:hurray:)

So, I get it home today and hook the battery up after charging a few hours...I hear a funny humming sound coming from the DESS post area... I remove the bucket and find the Noise coming from the fuse rea... ( once you kick the bilge on the umming stops. And it only does it the first time the battery i hooked up)????
At this point I decide to hit the start/ stop buttom .....nothing happens.... No clicks, no anything....
PS I did have 2 short beeps from the DESS when I fisrt started....
So I start checking fuses...
The only fuse I find blown in both fuse blocks was a blower fuse....
the Engine will crank over with the plugs removed while jumping the relay in the MPEM...
Any help????

Thanks in advance!
PS. 'm a well know member over at ************** but the greenhulk doesnt have much of a 2 stoke SeaDoo section....

Seadoo MPEM's are very sensitive to over voltage. If you were trying to start it with the charger hooked up.... then you could have cooked the MPEM.

BUT... I would start by pulling all the plugs apart... and cleaning the conections.

Okay this morning before i left for work i plged the key in... I DID get the 2 beeps!!!!:willy_nilly:
Yet, it still did not turn over...Nor did it click or make any noises....
So, I pulled the battary and took it to work with me....The battary was not fully charged and it wouldn't take a full charge either...
After charging it and testing it came back a bad battary...
I will replace it tonight...Any other ideas as to why i don't even hear the solinoid click???

Until you put a good battery in it... there is nothing you can do. (So i'm not going to guess at it) It may work just fine once a new battery is put in.

Will it turn over without the plugs removed, and is there a spark when it does turn over?

p.s. I hear ya about the hulksters, they are about the latest n greatest, namely 4techs. It is why I'm here.

GOOD NEWS!!!!!
I put a new battery in today after work...
Plugged in the DESS Key...2 short beeps!
Hit the starter buttom...NOTHING!!:banghead:
tested solenoid by jumping it...engine tried to fire....then acted like it was loaded with fuel...(hard cranking)
So, i pulled the plugs....Spun the engine over and watched the geyser of fuel and fogging oil come out:o
Did this 5-6 more time until it fired up and ran for 45 seconds or so...
So, the plus side is that it DOES run....
The down side is I'm still kinda stumped on the solenoid issue....
Here is what I've found thus far...
When I remove the yellow/green/red wire I have a full 12.6 volts....(probing the blk wire that goes into the MPEM for the ground)
When using a test light it lights up the test light.....
BUT when checking resistance I get some reading in the 0.6ohms range????? and I don't know if this is correct or not....Logic tells me that its a ground and should not have that much resistance...But, when I look at the mpem I'm baffled because I can't trace the black wire....
Anyone able to tell me what kinda of resistance they have in theirs?????

FSM wiring diagram says the black wire goes to ground. It should have less than 2 ohms. 0.6 ohms is a good connection to whatever you are testing to. I.E. the black wire to ground. (anything under 2 ohms will conduct electricity well) If the black wire checks fine to ground, and you have 12+VDC on the yellow/green/red wire, then you have a bad solenoid. You can always try jumping a couple wires to the relay input to test it. All it needs is power and ground.

p.s. you could always steal the engine and pump from your avatar and run 70 mph all day long. ;)

I was reading through the posts, and was just getting ready to tell you to replace the solenoid... but you beat me to it.

Glad you got it running.
