Some quick things to check:

1. Corrosion on battery terminals
2. Double check the charge on the new battery.....is it really 12V when measured with a volt meter?
3. There is a black box where the spark plug wires go.....open it and inspect
- you are looking for any water in the box
- corrosion on the terminals of the relay itself (big thing with copper screws)
4. See if you can jump the start manually - by shorting the starter terminals

Report on your findings to proceed from there.

Thanks JPX for the advice. I checked all cables and terminals and found they were very clean. Wire brushed all connections on the battery terminals and wires. I opened the rear electrical beside the battery which was dry and clean with no corrosion. Plugged in the lanyard and put a scredriver between the terminals on the ignition switch coil but does nothing. Does this mean the switch is bad or the starter. I read another posting that said if you jump across the terminals and the starter does turn over that the cylinoid was bad. Does this sound right? Thanks, Jimmy aka Water Rocket.

I had this and it turned out to be the starter motor, I did everything you tried and in the end it was a seized starter. Cost £160 to buy it
