Recent purchased GTX. Been running fine all summer. While out on lake, as I began to accelerate...the engine stopped. At that point, I couldn't get it to start, but it did turnover. As this was going on, a storm was coming in so to get back to the dock, I probably turned the engine over more then I should have.
After storm passed...I tried to start it up, and I now cannot get it to even turnover.
I am getting no beeps when I plug in my "Key", I get no beeps.

I have recharged battery to full strength. I have also checked fuses and they look fine.

Any other suggestions? Could I have burned up the starter?

Thanks

Well, after tinking with it a bit more...now I am getting my customary two beeps when I press in my lanyard. But the engine still wont' turnover at all.
Help!?? ;)

You could've fried the starter. Is it trying to turn the starter? When you hit the button are you hearing "clunk" at the starter?

Update....got it to turnover...couldn't get it started. But then after making a trip from lake to cottage and back down...it wouldn't turnover again. wtf is going on? very odd....

Check your connections inside the black box at the back of the engine! There. Tends to be quite a bit of corrosion inside there! Also check the battery connections!

I checked all connections, fuses, recharged the battery and checked connections multiple times. Nothing... :(

When you say black box, are you talking about the ignition box, right in front of battery?

Thats the one? Could be the start stop button? You're getting your two beeps when you plug the lanyard in to the DESS post?

Actually, my beeping is very inconsistant. It was even when the ski was running this summer. Sometimes I would get the two beeps, sometimes I wasn't. Today, I was getting two beeps...but it wouldn't turnover. Later, when it turned over...I was getting NO beeps. So......beeping is very inconsistant.

I'm having the same issue with my 97 xp. For the last 4 days it only double beeps in the morning but no turnover and nothing at all in the afternoon.:confused: Good luck with this. If i figure out anything i'll be sure to let you know

is it possible that there could be a lose connection on the back side of the dss. i'm not to sure but i was about to try this myself

You say you checked the connections but did you clean them? Lead connections should be nice and shiney when cleaned properly.

Ive got teh clunk when i try to start my new-to-me 2000 gtx rfi bombardier. what does the clunk mean. Also, the starter will engage intermitently. Engine turns over fine, good spark, dont seem to see or smell fuel? help
