hello I have a 96 GTX it has the 787 motor.Im trying to get it started for this coming summer but i put new fuel in it, i used premix fuel.after having a hard time starting it, fount out that i have no spark.what i wondering is if i can do a test to find out if the coil is bad or my stator.I have some mechanic skills i put that motor in myself last year and it ran fine.but it sat there for like 6 months.Give me some advise.Thanks....

test light, the white wire at coil, while hitting the start button. If it lights up, then your coil is bad or you need to trim back your plug wires. If it doesn't, and it being a 96, pull the mag cover off and inspect the pickup. That year, they used plastic brackets that end up breaking, leaving the pickup, hanging around.

OK thanks, I will try that.I'll keep you guys posted, to remove the mag cover i have to take the motor out of the hull cuz its bolted to a motor mount right???thanks for your advise.

not at all. remove the motor mount nut, so you can prop up the front w/ a block of wood.

If the small ground wire is not connected at the battery neg post then you won't have spark.
