Hi everyone - I've recently bought a '96 GTX which seems to go pretty well. But after a hard days work , I've noticed a lot of oil around one of the Rave valves - is this normal? What is the best way to fix this?[/ATTACH]

Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers

Could be the rubber diaphram is torn or the retaining spring has broken. It's easy to take apart and inspect. Use the search function and search how to clean the rave and you can find pictures etc. It's an easy DIY. Check the little O-ring as well as it should be rubbery and not hard. Do both while you are at it.

They do have a tendency of leaking. Take it apart, clean it... replace the gaskets... and put it back together. (and hope it doesn't leak)

What have we here then?

Ok thanks for the help so far. I've just removed the RAVE valves and a few things don't quite look right. First thing I notice is both valves look very different to each other. The one on the left is the PTO which is the one thats been getting messy. There was no nut on the end of the guillotine valve and the hole it passes through is melted. The red adjustment screw is also melted in one place where the spring sits. Also the outer cover of this assembly is distorted.Obviously this valve wasnt working! Now for some more questions. How was this likely to have happened? Why is the front bellows substantially different? Why have some parts been melted? Do I just replace the damaged parts on the PTO assembly and hope? Once again thanks for your help & advice

Could you please post how you resolved this issue? I have the same problem, but on my MAG cylinder. Desperate for answers. I also have a nasty mid-range bog... I fixed my plunger once, but the bog didn't go away. Now that same problem is back. Ski ran fine at idle and top end.

I bought a pair of 2nd hand rave valves off ebay, replaced the melted one and the ski runs just fine (not that I noticed any problems in performance before). I ran it all summer with no problems so I don't know what caused the initial melt down.
