96 gtx killing battery overnight

For some reason last night when I put the fresh battery in the gtx I noticed a spark when I hooked up the positive side. Is that normal? Makes me think something is drawing power even without the dess on the post. So tonight went out to start it up and the battery is totally dead...Any ideas?

You used a volt meter on the battery and it’s ????, anything?

I always go positive side first, then negative...never sparked on me. Should not spark though....could indicate a dead short somewhere.
