Is the shine supposed to stay on or spring back to the off position right away ?

As soon as I release the choke it goes back to the off position. This is how it is with all my SeaDoo skis.

Yup spring returns as soon as knob is released

Some people have pulled and twisted the knob so the cable jams and it stays out but that's not good to do. Normal is that the cable pulls back in.

Should only need to hold choke momentarily until it starts. If it needs prolonged choke to run, it probably has plugged idle circuit and/or idle jet
