'96 GTS won't go to full throttle...

Hi -

Put my '96 GTS in the water yesterday for the first time this year. It started well, idled fine, but won't go beyond about 75% throttle. It seems to bog down or flatten out above that level of throttle. Runs fine at lower throttle settings. At higher speeds it sometimes will waver a bit. Plugs look fine.

Must be a fuel issue of some sort but I don't have enough knowledge of these to troubleshoot well. I did check the fuel filter and that looks fine. The gas is last year's (with a stabilizer) and the ski does sit around a lot, so I added some STP fuel system cleaner to the 1/4 tank of gas to see if that might clean things up. No effect, though I only ran it for about 15 minutes.

Any tips? thanks!

Do you still have gray fuel hoses? If you do, it's time to change them, and you will need to clean the carbs, and fuel select valve.

Basically... your carbs are plugged up. Dont' keep riding it until you fix it. Running lean will burn up an engine quick.

I'm almost sure it has the grey lines - thanks! As it's up at a vacation home I'll need to take whatever I need with me the next time I go up. I saw from another thread that the lines for a different ski are 1/4, is this standard? Do auto parts stores carry it? How do I clean the carbs and valve?

Thanks again!
