96 gsx no start

Hi guys,
I have a 96 GSX that I think has a couple problems.
1. My boy was riding it on the lake (this happened right after he said wow this thing is fast, lol) and he said it just quit. I had him try to start it, it started but idled rough and would not rev up. I had him idle to the launch and we loaded it up. I thought, let's start easy. Pulled the plugs and they both looked good, a little darker brown than my liking but I was happy to see no shrapnel on them. They both had spark but looked a little weak. I put 2 new ones in just because.
Now for #2. It won't turn over. When I push the start button, the display goes dead (I charged the battery), and nothing happens. I pulled the box open with the solenoid in it thinking bad connection, pulled the wires off and cleaned them. Connections are all good. I pulled the connector going to the solenoid and checked the yel-red wire to ground while I pushed the start button and my test light lit up but was dim. I checked it with my meter and I'm getting 7.5 volts.
Tonight I will jump the solenoid just to make sure the motor turns over. Any advice or insight on either of my problems would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 96' GSX, likely a battery problem. Is it a flooded battery or AGM? Problem I found running a flooded battery it'll lose acid from tossing the ski around and the voltage will drop causing the issue you describe, weird run problems and it won't start or turn over. I had to fill it several times last season, this season I put a DEKA AGM battery in it and haven't had a problem since.

The battery can be charged and show over 12 volts, but with a load it'll drop way down like with what you are seeing. If it's a flooded battery ck the fluid levels in it..

prob your battery. Be sure to unhook it from the ski before charging. Id get another one to test out and see if that magically fixes everything. Might be ur rectifier going bad as well.

Not sure, probably a flooded. Bought it at autozone for $116. The battery is 1 month (3 rides) old, but I will definitely put my meter on it and see what the voltage drop is on it. Thank you.
