Trying to figure how to get the fuel baffle out of this unit to fix the sending unit. Loosened and tried moving that tank every which way, but not enough clearance to get the baffle up out of the tank. ALso, how do you change the language on the read out to English, it appears to be in French.

The only way to get the fuel baffle out of that ski is to take off the steering and take it out that way. Even then its still not easy.

I don't know the answer on the language.

This is from my '97 Shop Manual:

LANGUAGE OPTION
While in the clock mode, press and hold the SET
button for 2 seconds. Language option will be displayed.
Press the MODE button to scroll language (English,
French and Spanish).
Press the SET button to confirm the selected language
and return to the clock mode.

ENGLISH/METRIC OPTION
Press and hold both MODE and SET buttons for 2
seconds. The system will be automatically
changed.

Removing Fuel Baffle

It will take about an hour to pull it.

1) Remove the steering
a) take off the 4 bolts
b) lift the steering assembly up and out about 4 inches
c) rotate the handle bars until you can see the attachment point of the steering cable. Remove the bolt holding the cable in place
d) Remove the bottom half clamp holding the steering cable in place
e) Now gently lift the steering assembly (handle bars) up and out of the way you can rest it above the opening with some wood blocks, just don't crimp the cables are put them in hard binds

2) Unplug the MPEM connectors and tuck the wires out of the way

3) Drain the fuel tank (and oil tank if you have patience)

4) Unhook the straps and pull the tank all the way forward (lift it up and slide as far forward as possible.

5) Don't worry if the oil tank wants to stay behind as you slide the fuel tank forward

6) Loosen bottom clamp on fuel baffle (personally i would remove all the fuel hoses before pulling the baffle)

I assume you are going to fix the fuel baffle and have instructions? Have you tested the fuel gauge by shorting the plug connector? Are you familiar with the Otiker style clamps that may be used? Make sure to use stainless steel hose clamps upon replacement.

I have a 96 GTS and we just got it out without takeing the stearing off? just undo the ties and you have to turn it just right to the left and it will come out you have to take the tank almost all the way out.

GTS and GSX are totally different

KC has it. Done this many times and keep looking for a better way but there isn't one that I can find.

GTS(and most 3 seaters) takes 5 minutes...GSX takes 1 hour and 5 minutes.
