96 gsx engine noise, recording attached.

Hi, Can someone listen to this recording and tell me if this is a typical GSX 782 noise at idle? I open the throttle for a few in the middle of the recording. I am concerned about the grinding noise, but I'm new to PWC and two stroke engines. The ski is attached to a water hose.

SeaDoo Rattle

There is some movement, back and forth, of the impeller shaft. This will tighten up when the ski is in the water, the pressure of the impeller against the water will eliminate the rattle.

Try taking the ski to the lake and see if the noise goes away. It may still rattle even in the water if the idle is set too low. The idle should be about 3000rpm out of water and about 1500rpm when the ski is in the water.

check to make sure that nothing is in the pump area and also check your impeller shaft for lossesness and extra play.
