96 gsx carb rebuild ?

I am in the process of rebuilding the carbs on my 96 gsx. I did a pop off test prior to disassembling the carbs and again after I cleaned and put them back together. Both carbs pop off is 19-20 psi. The range is supposed to be 23-43. The lever is flush with the top of the body. My question is there a preferred area in that range I want to be in, ie should I buy 2 80 gram springs so that I am in the middle of the pop off range or is there something else I should look at before I start replacing the springs. I am doing a top end rebuild due to rave valve failure and want to ensure I am doing this right to avoid any other costly failures.

Is your ski all stock or modded in some way?

Stock carbs or aftermarket?

You don't need to replace the springs unless they are rusty or damaged. Unless they are the incorrect ones for your engine set up.

I run a Limited Mod engine on my '96 GSX and my pop off on my Buckshot 44mm carbs is 19-21 psi.

So in relation to yours. They seem a little low.

Can you identify which color springs are in the carbs? Color is sometimes faded or discolored and hard to make out.

Needle/Seats should also be a 1.5 for stock engines.
