96 GSX bogging

Have a 96 GSX SeaDoo. It has recently started bogging down. Changed plugs, run fuel cleaner through. It starts up just fine. When I go to throttle, it seems to want to go full speed then bogs down to around 3K RPM. If I restart and throttle up..some times it just takes off and goes. Runs fine for long periods of time. Seems as though once it warms up a little, it doesn't do it. Almost like something is stuck or lodged, shakes looks and runs fine. But if I idle for periods of time, it will do it again sometimes. Pretty new working on these engines, but pretty handy. Any help would be appreciated!!

Sounds like you still have gray fuel lines? if so, check out this thread, you'll need to replace the gray fuel lines, clean the fuel system and carbs.

I had a similar problem with my 97 challenger. It progressively got worse over the past two years....drove me nuts trying to figure it out.
It had the same symptoms...start and run fine sometimes, bogging, surging intermittently, enough to drive me crazy.

After multiple spark plugs, carb cleanings, replacing coil, etc... I pulled the cover off the engine to expose the water jacket. (gasket) Due to corrosion, the gasket was leaking a small amount of water into the cylinder (one side). I cleaned it up with a dremel wire brush and resealed the gasket with industrial gasket maker. I bought this boat used
3yrs ago and it runs better now than it ever did.
This is a fairly easy check...(remove the head bolts and inspect the jacket)

Hope this helps,

Rocky

Would you not have compression problems if this was the case?

Don.
