I have a 96 seadoo Challenger. I put a 787 motor from SBT it and I cant get it to run. When I set the rotary valve to where it is suppose to be set it just backfires out of the carbs. I can turn the rotary valve one click counter clockwise and it will start and idle but wont take any throttle. I also hear a bad vibration in the jet pump while it is idling but that could be where it is running rough. Any ideas where to look would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The rotary valve should be set to 147*. If the problem persist call sbt...it's their engine under warranty.

Thanks, That is where I set the rotary valve and it would not even act like it wanted to start. I called SBT's tech line and they said they didn't know what the problem could be.

sounds like, you got it timed, 180* off. with it timed right, 147*/65*, the RV should be block'n the PTO port-hole.

I timed the rotary valve to 146.5 and 64 with the # 1 piston(mag) at TDC. It looked just like the picture in the installation instructions. Is there any way I could have messed up the electrical timing during motor swap? thanks

I installed the flywheel with a new woodruff key. I had a friend say he thought the spark was a little weak. Does that mean ignition coil?
