Voodoo Man & Keith:
I am experiencing the same problem as Keith: No fuel being delivered to my fuel pump.
In my case, after replacing the crankshaft on my 580cc and assembling everything, when I cranked the engine over, I noticed that NO fuel was being delivered to the fuel pump.
I then disconnected the fuel line to check for an obstruction and when I sucked on it, fuel flowed freely, so, that indicated that there was no obstruction in the fuel line.
In my opinion, since the fuel line is clear, then, there can be only two problems: 1) defective fuel pump or; 2) no suction coming from the engine to activate the fuel pump.
Am I correct? If there are more alternatives, please advise.
When I checked the Threads for troubleshooting this type of problem I found Keith's, which led me to a informative post by the VoodooMan.
Although VoodooMan provided some helpful information, nonetheless, it left me a tad confused, thus the reason for this post.
As pointed out by VoodooMan, he suggested finding the pulse line, located between the carb and engine.
Although I found that part quickly, the question I have rests clarification of the advice.
As suggested by VoodooMan, Keith was advised to: 1) fetch a "squiggly drinking straw; 2) put some water into it; 3) and connect the straw to the line taken off the pulse port.
Now, my question pertains to the specific line VoodooMan referred to: 1) is it the line on the carb; 2) or the connecting to engine?
Voodooman next states that when depressing the start button, "water should move back and forth in the straw."
My next question is: 1) if water is placed in the straw, won't it flow into the engine? In other words, what keeps the water in the straw?
In my case, I like the idea because it will isolate my problem and help me determine whether I should disassemble the RV cover and double check the way I put the RV on.
Albeit I think I performed that task correctly and in consideration that I don't want to go through the time consuming hassle of disassembling it, I want to be sure I try every other alternative.
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
