Hello,
I am having a blast running our 99 GTX LTD. almost 100 hours over the last two years on a SES rebuild.

My question is this: do I redo the top end when I notice the compression going down or at a certain number of hours to try to get two sets of cylinders life out of the crank, or do I just run it til it dies then redo the whole engine. I understand that 100 hours is the expected life of a 951.

Any perspective or thoughts to consider would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

200 hours and if you do your maintenance and keep the carbs clean and working properly I don't believe 200 hours is the limiting factor. People don't take care of thier skis that's why they break. You can always take compression readings but I wouldn't worry. As long as it is running good "ride it." It will tell you if it has a problem. Happy Riding !!

Gene is correct but to add, 951’s don’t typically survive a new top end on a used crank. They like to try and escape out the bottom of the cases.
