951 Carb engine cases mismatched

Can 951 carb engine cases be mismatched? One of mine has a large hole in the bottom case and isn't repairable. Can I get a used lower case with my good top case? I think SD says no. Thoughts?

The answer is no because they are machined and line bored to be a perfect matching set.
I am sure it has been done but it’s not correct and used matching cases aren’t that expensive.

You shouldn't, you really need to get a matching set of cases.
I've got 5 sets and only need two for my last two builds, and i'm dealing cheap on parts if you need a set

A machinist said he can fix this. Is that a good idea? I have seen some case repairs that were excellent and some not so much.

I would just get a set of clean used cases.
