It shouldn't. Just rip it apart and fix whatever is wrong and then go back together with some pump gas domes in that head. The timing should be backed off a little also.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that is a Bo Dupriest built ski. He went by Neptune and helped a heck of a lot of racers go faster. He won for Seadoo himself in 94 (their first win) and then started his business after that.

He was the only one around this part of the country that Seadoo gave a programmer to capable of raising rev limits and changing timing curves. I have it now. He was the one who would cut the shafts down on those carbs to position them that way and run reverse water cooling.

That sounds like I found a preaty nice ski I'm taking it! I'm very excited to find out more about it. Their is some wires in the ebox that have been spliced/cut/trimmed. But it looks all stock? Matt, I'm interested to hear more and learn that's for sure. I've always wanted to race, that's the overall goal. I've told my wife I'm not getting any younger and that's on my bucket lists lol. I've messed around with some teams up in Lake Erie years ago, had a mild built ski, but then I went into the coast guard so plans changed ALOT.

My guess is that it's one he built for Eric Lagopolis. I raced against him one time and won but only because his ski broke down at the beginning of the race lol. He has been all over including to Thailand where they have "The King's Cup".

Bo is my favorite tuner and the one I've learned the most from. He is a results driven guy who never gave a crap about shiny aftermarket parts(that part didn't transfer to me haha). This guy was up early in the morning every day trying things and testing results. He worked with Seadoo on the development of the skis, always telling them what was holding skis back and failure points.

Seadoo actually gave him a 97 XP in March/April of 96 so he could start trying to improve on it. I was fortunate enough to buy that also. I took the liberty of adding some goodies but the amazing way it runs is all him.

Wow! That's awesome! Kinda makes me wonder even where to start, the amount of knowledge and experience that has been into this.

Start by tearing that engine down and seeing what happened. Siphon that gas out and run it through the lawn mower.
