Hello, last year I bought a 1995 XP 717. It had the original grey tempo lines. I replaced all the lines and had the carbs rebuilt, and it ran great the rest of the season.
this year I took it out for the first ride, and it ran great, shut it off on the water to hangout for about 30 mins, started up fine but now it seems to bog down and have no power any time I touch the throttle.... runs fine with a hose connection, and the compression is equal at about 146.
Help!!

There was an exhaust leak, but I pulled it all apart to replace the starter and put everything back together with the spec loctite and gasket maker.

So, can you ride it in the water with the seat off? Trying to duplicate to see if that works. Possible you have another exhaust leak.

When you redid the carbs, did you replace the fuel selector switch?

You can bypass the switch and go from the fuel water/seperator directly to the fuel baffle

When I had it in the water it’s pretty loud when it’s bogging down, I’m not sure where the leak could be. On land I can’t find anything. I see why running it with the seat off on water could help. And when I replaced the lines I did not replace the selector. Possible remnants of the old line clogged the carb filters?

The selectors are pretty common to go out and will suck air which doesn't allow fuel to be drawn into the carbs.

Problem solved! I bypassed the selector and was able to ride with no problem! Got the new selector in the mail today and put it on. Thanks everyone for your help leading me to a quick fix!
