I have a 95 XP 800 that has been hard to get started ever since I got it. It starts "most" of the time easily while it's out of the water but when its in the water it's VERY difficult to start and most of the time, just won't start. We've gotta pull the thing up on the dock out of the water to get it to start. My original thought was compression ... but no, both cylinders have approx 150 lbs to them. Now, I'm beginning to think maybe it's either the starter or a weak battery. I'm planning to get a different battery the next chance I get.
Basically, what are the odds that this problem is indicative of a bad starter??
Also, It's not got the power it should have. Kinda like it wont get up into the power band to really get up and go. It's got a fresh carb kit and new pistons and rings in it but the carbs may need tweaked some. Any ideas - Thanks
