Have a buddy who says he has a 95XP(white hull).. it is actually in very good cosmetic shape.(motor is tore apart).. But on a different note. He says the motor says 657 on it. Didn't Seadoo switch to the 717 in 95 in the XP? or was it an option?
Thanks!

The 657X motor was used on many '95 models and has a four wire stator . It was later in '95 replaced by the 720 motor. The earlier 657 motor is completly different.

There's a plate on the top of the mag. housing that should let you know for sure.

That Mag housing is interchangeable, possibly to a stripped thread prompted it to be changed? I guess this could be why they changed to putting the engine tags on the cases not a removable part.

Best way to tell what motor it is is the head. No hoses off the back of the motor is a 580, one big 1" hose is a 657, 2 hoses off the back is a 720.

The 717 head has three water fittings cast into it (two toward the pto, one on the mag side) where the 657 only has two (on pto end)... assuming stock heads.

I was thinking of that, then got logical about it, and will the 720 head cover swap too? You'd need the front hose to go to the head pipe. Like I mentioned earlier--it could be a Frankenstein.:o

Someone probably swapped the motor out, cornhusker85 just recently picked a 95 xp with a 650 in it as well. Dont know why you would drop in a 650, but people do dumb shiz all the time. Now swapping a 650 for a 720 is understandable lol

What color is the bottom of the hull? I see alot of people on CL claming to have a 95XP (white on top yellow on bottom) and its really a 94XP (white on top green on bottom).
