95 SPX Impeller question

Hi all

I acquired a 95 SPX that I got running last fall, but there was still work to do. I've since replaced the wear ring on the advice of folks on this forum as a correction for possible cavitation. In another response I was told that I probably needed to replace the impeller, which was pretty dinged up. I came across a brand-new impeller on ebay at a "can't be beat" price. It was a Solas Concord 14-22 pitch (Solas SD-CD-14/22 Concord). Per the compatibility chart on ebay, it was applicable to the 95 SPX. If you go to Solas website, however, they don't recommend the Concord 14/22 for the 95 SPX (657x engine), rather the UK 14/19. They DO recommend the Concord 14/22 for the 717 engine. I don't know a lot about these variable pitch impellers, but I know that on boats if you are over-propped you won't get the motor to spin up to the proper RPMs, and lugging the motor with too high a pitch will eventually cause its death. Given that there is a 5 HP difference between the 717 and the 657x motor, do you think I am okay running the 17/22 impeller on my 'doo? I haven't installed it yet because I didn't want to disassemble the pump yet again without having run it at least once...

Thanks in advance for any bits of wisdom.

Rgds

It will run fine. The only issue is it may hold the RPM's down a little... AND... there were a few years of the pump hub being a different size, so it may not line up property. But... it will "Work".
