95 Speedster Wear Ring Replacement Issue

I pulled the old ring out, cleaned up the housing, put the new one in, put the impellar in which was almost impossible. The impellar wont spin in the wear ring. Is this normal? Also I tried to get the housing back on and cant get the driveshaft into the impellar. I getting pissed.
 
I put the case on a vice and tried to spin it with the impellar tool and a big ass wratchet and still couldnt spin it either way. I give up.
 
Is the impeller tight in the ring, or is it not spinning on the shaft?


When they go back together, you can pinch the thrust washer, and it will bind up. If it was just tight in the ring... you would still be able to turn it.

As far as... you cant get it to back on the shaft... that's because the impeller won't turn, and the splines aren't lined up.


Nothing you are doing should take any force.
 
Thank you for the reply, I handed it off to my cousin to work on. He thinks I overtightened it too. I will look up the torque spec for it now.

If you over tighten the impeller... it will still spin. I'm betting that your thrust washer is pinched.
