I just got the boat and there is all kinds of plugs and openings on the back of the boat can someone please let me no what all of them are and what ones i need to plug before putting it in the water. When i put it in the lake today the drain in the floor under the drivers seat started leaking water into the floor not out? any ideas. I can add some pics if it will help you see what i am talking about. thanks for all the help

also the port side motor when i throttle up just that motor it will rev way up but the boat dont really go anywhere it is kind of like a transmission in a car slipping?

Pics would be helpful. The slipping is called cavitation. Your sucking air or the impellers clearance is to worm out or damaged.

how would i find out if it sucking air and where would it come from? there is some pictures there is a bolt in the port side drain plug ( i have a new one coming) the rest i have no idea except the one that is the bilge100_0836.jpg100_0834.jpg100_0835.jpg

Lift the gates and look into the jet area for grinding marks or damaged impellers. If you want take a good pic and post so we can help you fix the cavitation issue.

i took some pics but you can't really see anything but as far as i can see it all looks good there is a couple little scuffs but nothing major so i am thinking i am getting sucking air somewhere.

would it be cheaper to just replace the ware rings and hope it fixes it or try to find out where it is sucking air? i found them on ebay for 22 plus shipping (anyone no of anywhere cheaper)

Possibly, but what you want to look at is the ring around the impeller. That's your wear ring. Are there deep grooves in it? The impeller not chewed up or missing any pieces?
That ring around the impeller is what compresses the water giving you thrust. If the tolerance between the two surfaces is to big, you will cavitate.

no it looks ok and the impeller looks like it is snug. (not tight just not really any room in between) it is looking more and more like i am sucking air but i dont no what to check for that.

Next will be your carbon seal. Not sure if you have twins or not.
On the back of the engine there should be a grey cover. Two wing nuts hold it on. You will see a black accordion looking boot. That boot pushes the carbon seal against the flat plate creating a seal.

yes it has twin motors but only one does it. I will check that tomorrow when i get up. Will i be able to tell if it is bad by looking at it? how about you give me a list of things it could be that way i can check it all out at once instead of looking at something and then coming back in to the computer. Don't take that wrong i am willing to take whatever help i can get i just thought that would be the easiest way. and really thanks for all your help you have saved me a couple hundred dollars so far because i had no idea of what could cause it so i would have just started replacing it part by part until it stopped. so thanks a bunch

Visually inspect the ride plate under the boat. It has to be sealed to the hull.
The carbon seal is different. Pull the boot back from the plate and put a little bit of waterproof grease in between the two surfaces. Drop it back in the water. The grease with provide a temporary seal. You should be able to see if there is a difference in thrust.

Do a search. 95 speedster cavitation. There are many threads on it. Our boats have different seals.
Parrothead said put the boat in water and look for the leak in one post.

sucking air

1. ride shoe not sealed
2. driveline seals bad (those metal things that are in the bilge right where the driveshaft goes through.)

cavitation

1. impellers worn (and they may not look bad, but still are) i just had mine redone by IMPROS, i could tell a HUGE difference before and after. they could be out of balance too.
2. wear rings bad and/or spining in the housing if the housing is worn

the only thing that is "plugged" are you drain plugs. one on each side of the back of the boat near the metal plates.

also those plugs i was talking about should have an O-ring on them to seal when tight. that bolt is completely wrong on that one side.

also looks like you could use a new scupper valve....that rubber flap that is on the right hand side where the water comes out when the bilge pump comes on.
