I am hoping I just need a new battery. Anything else I should look at? Battery sits at 11.8 dc volts after a charge.

It more than likely Is a bad ground. If you clean up all your contact points and it still does it then check your battery. If it's not the battery then replace the starter relay

At 11.8V after charging your battery is toast. You can have it load tested for free at Autozone.
