I have a 95 seadoo xp. I had it on the water it was running fine then I let it sit at the sandbar for about an hour. Jumped on it and moved it out of the way so a boat could get in. Shut it off and it sat for maybe 15 min. Got back on it turned over 2 times but did not start hit a 3rd time and it just clicked. I took it to the shop and they said the motor was locked and it was junk and since the seadoo was so old I might as well scrap it. Is there anything that I can do to maybe save it or are they right?

go get ur ski. You probably end up pay'n a few huned buks, for them to have removed your seat, and then tell you that crap.

Pick it up, and while your there, see how much/in stoack, a starter relay. With ski on trailer, have screwdriver, "jump" the 2-post on relay, if starter kicks out, buy a relay, if not, remove spark plugs, and turn the pto(located under the grey cover), if it spins, the motor aint locked up, and with jump'n the relay, and nuth'n happened, then you'll need new starter...(same situation to me, yestersay, starter dead).

Age....?

To a degree, what he's saying is true. That's because he doesn't want to work on it.

IF you were to go through it, you coudl probably put a new motor in it for about a grand. Depending on how much you loved our ski.

I have more reservations...

Your charging circuit.

By you saying the things you said, it sounds like maybe your rectifier or mag may have left you down. Bad fuse or soemthing. I hope you didn't jump it off.

Get a charged battery. Don't just the battery in the ski, unless the vehicle you start from is shut down. Now, once the ski ir sunning, do to the battery and test your voltage with a meter. You can get it at walmart if you don't have one. Now, if you get over 13 volt DC, your pretty much ok.... If you get no more volts running as you do off, check all the fuses..... Sounds like your charging cirucuit is letting you down.

Dont take the ski back to the jerk that told you it was too old.............

Well I did realize the battery cable were loose on the battery. I tightened them but nothin changed. So it maybe the battery is too dead. I am picking up the ski tomorrow and will start to check it out.

I am new to forum so I dont think I posted my reply right but thanks for gettin back to me so soon. What I did post if it did not come up is my battery cables were loose on battery. So what you are sayin my battery could be dead since I tightened them and there was no change.

Well I picked up the ski and tried to jump starter relay it just sparked. I looked then took off the flywheel cover and starter is definitly jambed in the flywheel. Battery was testing at 12.21 volts so do I need a new starter please help.

Take the starter off and jump it. If it doesn't shoot out to engage the retract when u take the power off then your starter is bad. Can u take the plugs out and turn the drive shaft by hand?

Yes but you should anyway to see if the starter is bad or not all you have to do is touch the ground from the battery to the ground spot and the pos to the terminal you will know if it's bad in a matter of seconds. Inspect the teeth on the gear to see if any teeth broke off from jamming

Seems I have had a pretty similar problem happen to me. Thursday I went and test rode and bought a 95 GTX. Sunday the starter rolled a few times, now today I can't get it to roll at all. Have a feeling somethings up with the starter. I plan to remove it, guessing the celenoid on it has went bad or something to the extent. Battery has tested good, but everytime I hit the start button all I get is a subtle click.

Is the click coming from the solenoid/relay area or the starter itself? a good way to check the solenoid is to jump it with a screwdriver. if it engages the starter then u know its the solenoid if it doesn't do anything then u may need to take the starter off and check it out. either way its an easy fix. one's just about $100 cheaper lol

Well I took the starter off and it seemed to operate properly however the shaft on the starter seems to be bent if I turn it by hand i can see its bent what to do and thank god the motor is not locked

when you guys say "turn it by hand", are you referring to the crank? i.e. turning the pistons by hand?

starter shaft bent

Wondering if anyone knows how a shaft in the starter gets bent. Is there anyway to rebuild the starter since the shaft is bent can anyone tell me if so where do you get the part

Take it to an armature shop. They will rebuild it for a very reasonable price. Wouldn't suggest trying it yourself.
