Hello. Does anyone know what this nipple is for in my picture? I've been told several things so I'm uncertain? I had to put things back together myself as the guy who was working on it just disappeared? I didn't have any extra hoses laying around when I did but that's not to say it didn't get lost or something? I think it's part of the cooling system or a vacuum line of some sort but not sure honestly? I've been told it's for a breather line and filter and I've been told it's nothing? If it's nothing, shouldn't it be capped off to prevent water from getting in? Everyone who has made their opinions, aren't familiar with jetskis and are auto mechanics. I don't know much about jetskis and have always had the same guy do everything? I'd be so appreciative if someone could tell me exactly what that nipple is for? Thank you in advance for your answer!

That’s for the oil injection pump that has been disconnected in your ski.

I don’t see any oil supply lines for your rotary valve chamber so you better not run it until you figure that out.

Thank you for your response! Is that still operative if you mix your oil with the gas? If so, where does it connect to? If not, should it be capped off?
I ask because I read in my research that ppl who use to race them, did away with something to do with the oil injection and went with mixing with gas to make it lighter. Is there any truth to that?

Racers used premix.

On these there’s really no benefit.

Since yours is open I wouldn’t trust it.

You are still going to have to find a way to supply oil to the rotary valve or you will ruin the engine. Most people have no clue how to remove the oil injection correctly on these.

His "mod" was to remove the oil pump and go to premix,,,after an engine failure/engine rebuild where he assumed the failure was due to the oil pump.

I see, I was wondering if that's what he did after I came across an article about changing it out? I have had it for about 8yrs and just learned about it as I was forced to put it back together. I had always wondered why it was so unstable and nearly impossible to get back on if you fall off? Come to find out the HX is a special (pain in the ass) breed of jetski? Lol I never had problems with it breaking down on me like I read it has on alot of ppl? He did say that he had just had the motor rebuilt so I was lucky and scored. I paid $500 for the trailer and ski. It is fast and have had so much fun launching off a waves. First cpl runs of the season its a lil wobbly at 1st. Lol There is only 1 way back on in Deepwater and won't even let nobody ride it til they show me they can get back on it? Ppl laugh at me til they get out there? That's when I'm on shore literally lmao at them all exhausted needing a tow in? Anyway, so all I need is a cap over it I'm assuming? I think I'm gonna finally be able to take her tomorrow. Thanks again for responding, I wasn't too confident I'd get a response or not? I've never asked questions like this? I usually call places but everybody is swamped and didn't want to tell me much over the phone? Your help is much appreciated!

To get back on In deep water,,,you need to start it with the handle bars turned in opposite direction,,,give it throttle and PULL yourself up on it,,,its best to practice in deeper water off shore, first,,,just past standing depth,,,there is noway a novice will get back on it in deeper than standing depth water.

Lol I see you know how? That's the only way I've ever been able to get back on it. Lol when I 1st got it I went through alot of growing pains until a guy rode by and when I told him it's a HX he was like..oh hell you have to get on it from the side like you would get up on a horse. I had to figure the handlebar part on my own but he gave me the general idea. That was when it actually became fun to ride. Before that, all I could think about is to not fall off if I didn't have a boat out there also? Thats why I get a good laugh out of the "I been on alot of jetskis I can get myself back on it" friends. Lol After that 1st time and having to be dragged up in the boat or to shore, they all never ask to ride it again? Lol It's not for everyone. Definitely those who are out of shape. Lol

Lol...I was 65'ish when I needed to get back on,,,we were practicing on our own closed race course,,,,and guys swapping boats,,,LOL..
