95 gtx engine swap possibilities??

Just picked up a 95 gtx the other day from a buddys grandpa for $150. Said engine was bad and is completely disassembled now but all else is good. Clean hull and not a single tear or heavy scratch on the thing. Well what im wondering is, im not sure what engine it has from factory..650? How do i go about finding the engine size? Is it possible or even advisable to upgrade for a 720 or if i get too carried away...951?

I belive the 1995 GTX came with the 657X motor. As far as what you can put in it. I am unsure on that. Maybe someone will know that answer

You can bolt in a 720 or smaller engine. BUT... you will have to adapt the electronics.

The factory engine was a 657X. doing a swap to a 720 will only get you an extra 5 hp.
