I just bought a 95 GTX and there is water coming in from the thru hull fitting. I decided to tackle this myself and oh what a pain in the rear. Please help!!! The manuals say the shaft will come right out but mine looks like it is after market and the seal carrier seams to be all 1 part with the shaft. It does look like it was recently replaced nice shiny. the thru hull fitting seams to have o-rings on it (something the manual doesn't say)? They have melted and shredded. Please if anyone could help I would appreciate it greatly, Since I bought these in GREAT RUNNING CONDITION and I have not even been able to ride for 10 minutes. ALso the thru hull fitting looks to be steel or aluminum?? Not sure

pretty sure i saw some where the replacement for the thru hull fitting is aluminum. I'm sure Doc will be getting back to you after viewing the picture, but in the meantime you might do a search for info on the replacement fitting to see what it look like. A guess would be it was run out of the water for a really long time allowing the driveshaft to get hot and melt the o-rings, thus the leak.

Yep... that's what I was thinking... and boy... someone butchered the install (please take no offence)

To get that to work... it has to be VERY precisely aligned, since it fits, semi-ridged to the hull. I would recommend removing it... cleaning all the calking off the hull, and replace it with factory type parts. You will need to epoxy a new threw hull fitting in... and get an OE style seal carrier, and boot. The other option is to figure out who made the seal you have... and buy replacement parts for it. Unfortunately... I don't know who made it. (Sorry)

Thank you Doc and Big Jake. I take no offense, I appreciate your time. I am willing to switch back to OE parts but i cannot seem to get this piece of crap out of the machine, it actually looks as if I may have to pull the motor just to get the darn drive shaft out. Any suggestions please before I go pulling the motor. We only get 2 mos of summer here in western Wa and I would love to take the kids out before winter hits. Thank you

Hey thanks Doc and Big Jake, I replaced the thru hull fitting and what a pain, it was siezed on the drive shaft. I took your advice Doc and went back to the OE style carrier and epoxied the thru hull fitting in tested great no water at all!!!! Now I have the problem with fuel I do believe. The engine will start but when I try to give it throttle it does not increase unless I pull the choke part way out then the machine goes like a bat outa hell, at top speed I can push the choke back in and it still goes until I let off the throttle then try to hit it again it does'nt move, almost dies. I have replaced all fuel lines, fuel selector, rebuilt carbs with new needle and seats(1.5). Please any advice would be greatly appreciated. I printed off the carb adjusting guide from the forum and I am going to try and adjust the carbs tomorrow, on the lake. Thanks
