Hi all,

Another day at the lake another problem.

Today I went to the ake and what before was ok for me get worse - it revs the motor, gets to the rev limiter RPM at about 1/2 throttle but accelerate very slow and cant go past 30-35 mph /before it was hiting 45/

The engine works smooth, no bogging, no lost of power, there is jet stream behind the ski but it feels like it can not build up presure in the pump.

From what I read on this forum I started to think it was cavitation problem but no sure so your imputs will help me a lot.

If it is cavitation problem what has to be done? I know that wear ring has to be replaced, but is there something else and what is the procedure of doing that change, any special tools involved and etc.

I bought this ski at the begeining of the summer with idea to ride it few months and sell it /no profit/ but since then I replaced and fixed almost everything but not the pump. I cal still sell it /will not get the money invested so far/ but I am not that kind of person and don't want to ruin someone's weekends so I want to fix it and make it average good sor the minimum expence and after the summer t sell it for some cash just to not give it for free and whoever buy it to have good time with the ski. I know it sounds crazy and a lot of people will advice sell it like this now, but it is not me

thank you

the wear ring needs to be replaced. to do that the jet pump has to come off the ski. and come apart. the inpeller has to come off. you will find a grove in the jet housing.on that grove take a hack saw blade with out the handle. and cut trough the old wear ring be carfull not to hit the houseing. then to replace the the ring take the new you and put dish soap on the out side of it. with a block of wood place it on top of the ring and pound it in making sure it goes in evenly. then put it all back togather.

Thanks for the answer

is it only the wear ring that has to be replaced?

What is the procedure for removeing the jet pump - is it from behind the craft?

I never did something like this and all the help is wanted here

Thank you

P.S. step by step guide will be perfect if someone wants to spend the time

Thank you

Just search "Rear Ring Replacement" in the search space. Several guys have done a nice job with step-by-step instructions with pictures.

On your ski it's most likely the wear ring. Check the clearance between the impeller and the wear ring if more than .040", about the thickness of a dime, it needs to be replaced. A hack saw blade it going to take forever, use a saw zall or a multifunction tool.

Here's a thread on the subject, there's also a good write up in the service manual.
