95 GTS Rev Limit

I'll try to explain the best i can. Just picked this thing up for free, guy gave up.
First Problem, he says its has electrical problems. It starts up just fine don't get it. go down to lake, nothing like its dead. go home starts up double beep. none of the the gauges work but the low fuel light, has a full tank. found the ground on the block not tightend and was arching sometimes and allso cause of not starting sometimes. New problem, didn't double beeb anymore. U can start it with or with out dess tether key and it gets to about 30mph and feels like its hitting a rev limiter. Checked all connections and are good. Is this a bad mpem? Any help is greatly apperciated. So in short once again, right now, no gauge infor exept fuel light on and it feels like rev limiter at 30mph, i don't have a tech so the 30mph could just be the right rpm. Thanks

Wearing ring

Check the distance between the leading edge of the impellar and the wear Ring! It can't be more than .040 or the width of a skinny dime! This might explain the lack of speed, but I can't help on the electrical stuff!

Hi,

The good news is I don't think its the MPEM, it wouldn't start at all if the MPEM was bad. I have never heard of a SeaDoo starting without the lanyard, so I don't know what thats about.

Have you checked the compression? It should be 140-150 on each cylinder.

Does the ski have the old gray fuel lines?
I don't imagine you want to spend a lot of money until you find the problem, so the other thing you might want to try is running a 1/4" x 6' gas hose from the main fuel filter, directly to the carbs., also take a look at the main fuel filter.

Rev limit

Sounds hard to believe but it was doing it. After fixing the loose ground i was getting no double beep and i could start it with out tether and all like the post was shorted together. But it was still acting like i hit a rev limit at 30 mph. Pulled it out of water took home and now it double beeps and quits when u pull the tether but still act like its hitting a rev limit at 30 and none of the gauges work but the low gas light but has a full tank. impellar gab is good, plugs good, carbs good, i need a manual
