Getting my first PWC and am debating between these two...
97 GSX with the 787 engine and 80 hours. I hear these engines are reliable, is this true? What problems did this model and engine of this year have? What should I look out for? Guy is asking $2000 with trailer and it's in awesome cosmetic shape(looked at it but didnt talk to seller). Is this too much?
94 SPX with the 650 engine and unknown hours. I also hear these engines are very reliable, true? What problems did this model/engine/year have? What should I look out for here? Also, is there an hour meter on this machine? This seller is asking 1200 without trailer, only seen pictures but it also looks in great cosmetic shape. I can get a trailer for $250. Good price or too much for the ski?
Yes, I do plan to haggle with the guys and try to get the price down a bit.
I know to do a compression test and ask vague questions about maintenance to see if the sellers can name more specific things they've had done. If they can that means they did it, or at least know the machine well enough to BS about it. lol
The guy with the SPX is willing to let me test drive it on a lake(what should I look for or check while riding?), should I make sure I can test ride the GSX too? If the seller won't let me would that be a deal breaker for you?
What else should I ask/check on these machines?
Going to look tomorrow so answers the sooner the better!
Thanks,
Adam
