If you’re looking to get more power out of it and are pretty handy yourself, I’m sure you could do it, I have never don’t it for these skis at all, but I’d assume you could shave the heads a little bit to get a lower squish volume, and hence high compression. Also a fresh hone and new pistons could help some. I’d recommend converting it to premix if you’re looking to make more power as well. If you go for higher compression you’d need to run 91 octane fuel, or racing fuel if you really go crazy on the compression. All of this will require you to tune the carburetors to account for it. Also you could try extending the exhaust ports, but that’s a little tougher to do. I have no clue if they sell after market exausts for it, but it’d most likely make a decent difference as well. Another thing you could do to clear up exhaust flow would be to gut out the water box/muffler. All of that would help gain some power, and could then handle a slightly higher pitched impeller also clearing up the intake grate can help, making sure it’s got a very smooth path too the impeller is good, and I have run many without the grates at all, but you’re risking a big rock getting in there and destroying a bunch of stuff
