I have a 94 Seadoo Bombardier GTX.
Can I put a 96 GTX engine in it easily?
Not a big issue if not it runs fine just wouldn't mind a bit more pep.

96 gtx had a 787 if I remember correctly. The two motors use a different engine mounting layout, you can't switch the two easily, you can't switch the two at all.

Thank you for letting me know not to waste my time ha is there any engine that would be a possible swap??

I have not researched this, but what comes to mind is the series of engines based off the original snowmobile motor. The 580, 657, 657x and 720 should have the same bolt pattern for mounting to the engine saddle. But that is just the start of it, there is a lot of other things to consider and by the time you go through and do everything you are not going to be amazed enough to feel like all that trouble was worth it.

I have a 94 gtx and it is the smoothest running machine in my fleet. They did a good job setting them up from the factory.

As long as you use the electrical and carbs from the 720 yes, you will also need a different impeller.
Keep in mind that you are still using the old hull design that can only do so much so don't expect the world and don't invest a lot of money in the swap.

Understandable, what about upgrading the existing motor since I may have to take it out cause of a oiling issue do any companies do that that u can think of ?? Or they sell parts for???

If you’re looking to get more power out of it and are pretty handy yourself, I’m sure you could do it, I have never don’t it for these skis at all, but I’d assume you could shave the heads a little bit to get a lower squish volume, and hence high compression. Also a fresh hone and new pistons could help some. I’d recommend converting it to premix if you’re looking to make more power as well. If you go for higher compression you’d need to run 91 octane fuel, or racing fuel if you really go crazy on the compression. All of this will require you to tune the carburetors to account for it. Also you could try extending the exhaust ports, but that’s a little tougher to do. I have no clue if they sell after market exausts for it, but it’d most likely make a decent difference as well. Another thing you could do to clear up exhaust flow would be to gut out the water box/muffler. All of that would help gain some power, and could then handle a slightly higher pitched impeller also clearing up the intake grate can help, making sure it’s got a very smooth path too the impeller is good, and I have run many without the grates at all, but you’re risking a big rock getting in there and destroying a bunch of stuff

That's a lot of good ideas thank you

There is no reason to try and modify your engine. All you will do is mess with the reliability. If you want a faster ski just buy one that already has a larger engine. There is really not much to gain from the 580 and 650 engines.
